" The work of memory collapses time and breaks down the boundaries between past, present and future. To remember, can be to collect and release the stories of silenced voices and experiences into the present, changing the future. To remember can be to resist the deliberate act of forgetting the violence and exploitation that marks colonial history, its practice and self-celebratory story-telling. The word “re-member” carries the meaning of making whole and restoring, but also of mourning. To remember can be a process of artistic practice, and a work of art. " Moa Matthis

Words usually fail us when it is about our perception of sound. Datas, then, can be precious. Allowing a new visual vocabulary, the experimentation is driven by numbers. Here, Decibels and Time.

" Not long ago the countries of Eastern and Central Europe were presented as proud examples of successful democratic transition. Today we see the rise of illiberalism in the same region. Can activists and cultural operators reverse this alarming trend? "

is not terrorism
The authority to speak, tell, show is a strong form of action. What can I do, as a designer, to react to what I find important ? How can I use my freedom of speech for those who cannot ? In 48 hours, 4 posters have been created, printed, and stuck in Bushwick neighborhood, Brooklyn.
Janv 2015 : In the past few months, the sentence"Resistance is not Terrorism" has been infamously related to the movement against Israel occupation. Mainly because of existenceisresistance.org which is selling T-shirt with Leila Khaled's face (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine); and also because of CNN political contributor Marc Lamont Hill, who has been wearing the shirt. Leila Khaled is known for her militancy which have led to extreme actions.
My use of it is far from this debate. It was during the riot in Ukraine in reaction to the ex-president Viktor Yanukovych. This riot is now known as the "2014 Ukrainian revolution" (1)and a year later, situation is still unstable. At the same time, students in Venezuela called to protest against insecurity and injustice in their country(2). Majority of them have been peaceful yet resultated in arrests, between 800 and 5000 injuries, and over 40 deaths. (3)
The Venezuelan government has been condemned for its handling of the protests, controversial methods have been reported according to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch (rubber pellets and tear gas, even torture of arrested protestors). These protests are now known as the "2014 Venezuelan protests".
Those two examples are what I call resistance and have been unfortunately called "terrorism" by governments afraid by the quest for freedom. Words are important and highly complex. Resistance doesn't mean violence. Apart from the debate between Palestine and Israël,I am against all images of arms and violence using this statement.
